"The Battle of Blue Ribbon"
2015 Acrylic on Canvas
This piece was painted as a submission for the Pabst Blue Ribbon art contest. Winners have not been announced yet but its competing for 10,000 dollars! I wanted to throw the entire kitchen sink of concepts I love in this piece. From afar it takes the general composition of a PBR tallboy can, but up close you can see just how vast this battle is.
Stylistically I was looking at a lot of Geoff Darrow and Kim Jung Gui's hyper crowded/hyper detailed images and wanted to try my hand at it. However next time I'm going to use a brush pen with a built in reservoir rather than dipping a brush in paint constantly. The hours this type of thing takes is excessive and anything that will create more efficiency is desired!
